THE Communication and Marketing (COMA) is a department that reports direct to the Vice-Chancellor. The Department is the official spokesperson of the University that ensures that all the University's communications are consistent and aligned with its strategic goals. It is responsible for developing and implementing the University's Communications and Marketing Strategy, which guides the department’s activities and ensures that its efforts are aligned with NUST’s overall Vision and Mission. The department’s work is critical to NUST’s success, as it helps to raise awareness of the institution’s programmes and services, thus attracting students, key staff, and other stakeholders.
Role and Responsibility
COMA works together with all departments and sections of the University, in fulfilling its service or support functions. The role and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- To promote, protect and manage the image and reputation of NUST.
- To communicate information about the University's programmes and services to the public.
- To support the University's strategic goals through effective communication and marketing.
- To develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for NUST.
- To manage the University's brand and ensure its consistency across all communication channels.
- To manage media relations and promote positive media coverage of NUST.
- To support the University's student recruitment efforts through effective communications and marketing.
- Managing the University's social media presence.
- Developing and distributing publications such as the University's annual report, newsletters, and brochures.
- Organising events such as open days, press conferences, and information sessions.
- Planning and implementing advertising campaigns for NUST.
- Coordinating the University's website and ensuring that it is up to date and user-friendly.
- Assisting with crisis communications as needed.
