I hold a Ph.D. in Laser Physics from NUST. My research interests predominately lay in the industrial applications of radioisotopes --- e.g., the development of lasers, simulations of optics systems as well as beam propagation in waveguides. To date, I have supervised four M.Phil. students in Lasers and Applied Optics. I have also supervised several M.Sc. students in Medical Physics. I have been a National Coordinator of RAF 1004 and RAF 1008 both AFRA technical cooperation projects on industrial applications of radioisotopes and National Coordinator for RAF0059 an AFRA project on Nuclear Education Science and Technology (AFRANEST). Through these projects, gamma scanning techniques has now been made available to Zimbabwe petrochemical industries. As a result, NUST is now the torch bearer of research in applications of radioisotopes for the benefit of local industries and the community at large. I was appointed as the Chief Scientific Investigator for an (International Atomic Energy Agency) IAEA Coordinated Research Projects CRP F22069 in 2017 and CRP 26794 in 2023. In 2014, I was awarded a TWAS Fellowship to facilitate research visits to the Laser Research Institute at the University of Stellenbosch for a total of 6 months over a period of 3 years. In 2016, I received an IAEA fellowship to receive training in gamma column scanning at CNESTEN of Morocco. In 2018 I also received an IAEA fellowship to undergo training in Nuclear Electronics and Instrumentation in Algeria. Over the years, I have attracted more than two hundred thousand euros in equipment grants, travel grants as well as research grants. I have taught several physics courses that include Lasers and Modern Optics, Laser Technology, Electromagnetism, Electromagnetic Theory, Modern Physics, Nuclear Physics, etc. all on the undergraduate physics programme and Physics and Biology on ionising radiation, Physics of non-ionizing radiation, Medical Physics Instrumentation and Nuclear Physics on the MSc Medical Physics programme.
