THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLISHING STUDIES
Welcome to Publishing Studies
The Department presents a comprehensive approach to many forms of publishing, such as textbooks, fiction, general books, magazines, newspapers, corporate, scholarly, and digital publishing. The programme covers all the stages of publishing, including planning, acquisition, editing, design, production, marketing, distribution, and publication management for both print and digital media. The Department aims to teach industry-relevant publishing practices and keep abreast of technological developments that are transforming the industry worldwide. Our graduates are competent to work in publishing-related careers. The programme challenges students to be creative and skilled in writing, editing, and designing. Upon successful completion of the program, our graduates will not only possess the theoretical knowledge of publishing but will also have developed the practical skills needed to excel in the competitive field. We aim to empower our graduates with the confidence and expertise to pursue a rewarding career in publishing or to independently publish their works. Our graduates are employable in media houses as editors, production managers, publishing managers, copywriters, and content creators, as well as in large corporations as corporate publishers. The Department of Publishing established the Creative Design and Technical Editing Hub (CDTE HUB) in 2013 as an opportunity to impact the quality of book design and editing for individuals, the university, and new publishing companies that do not have this capacity.
