Short Biography
Dr Mtisi is a seasoned academic and consultant with nearly three decades of professional experience. He has taught strategy for MBA students for many years at the Graduate School of Business Sciences where he is currently a Research Fellow having previously been a Senior Lecturer in the same School. He has vast research and consultancy experience in the business and socio-economic development arena where he has led various applied research projects funded by local and international development organisations as principal investigator. Dr Mtisi has a passion for qualitative research and has published research articles in international refereed journals as well as presented research papers at international conferences. He has supervised numerous successful postgraduate dissertations and is currently supervising a few doctoral students from NUST and foreign universities as main or co-supervisor. He is an external examiner for master's and doctoral theses for two South African universities and previously served as an external examiner for two Zimbabwean universities in their Marketing Departments. He is twice a recipient of the best paper award for the NUST Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences at the Annual NUST Research Day Seminars and is twice a recipient of the NUST merit award for raising external research grants.
Consultancy experience: strategic planning; market surveys; small business training, mentoring and coaching; project/programme baselines and evaluations; needs assessments; economic mapping and cluster development.
